It is used for the treatment of serious respiratory tract, urinary tract, and genital tract infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to cefotaxime; septicemia, bacteremia, endocarditis, and intra-abdominal infections, including peritonitis; meningitis and other central nervous system infections; and infections of the skin and soft tissues, bones, and joints. It is also used for prophylaxis in gastrointestinal, genitourinary, obstetric, and gynecological surgery.
