It is used for the prevention of skeletal-related complications—pathological fractures, spinal cord compression, radiation therapy, bone surgery, or hypercalcemia—in patients with multiple myeloma with radiologically confirmed osteolytic lesions and in patients with advanced cancer with bone metastases, and for the treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy.
